The Christchurch Aerospace Centre has now become Aerospace New Zealand. This organisation has been set up to promote Aero and Space technology and business growth in New Zealand. As the organisation was started in Christchurch for the next 12 to 18 months, it shall operate as Aerospace Christchurch.
Skybase CEO, Michael Read, is the Secretary of Aerospace Christchurch. Along with the remainder of the committee, he works with several government agencies to promote aerospace businesses working harmoniously within New Zealand and to promote attracting aerospace businesses and talent to New Zealand.
The Christchurch Aerospace scene has been getting more and more exciting, with bi-monthly meet ups encouraging people to fly in from around the country to hear the speakers and to network. Having Christchurch Airport host the US Air Force further engages Christchurch with aerospace globally. The sister city of Christchurch is Adelaide, Australia, and this is highly regarded for its aerospace and defence industry.
